When Michelle Bullock does a Julian Gerner and tells us on Tuesday morning we need to see higher unemployment and more pain in the economy as she sticks up interest rates I’ll spew up if Jim Chalmers says Labor are doing all they can to tame inflation! Chalmers has apparently managed to pull $6 out of the budget and will no doubt tell us in the post interest rate rise announcement that the deficit isn’t as bad as it was! And how much do we want to bet he says Labor inherited the deficit from the Libs! What a bunch of dickheads! As much as Gerner is an insufferable weasel we’d probably be better off having him as federal treasurer as at least he’s worked in the big wide world! Ugh!

Well as the dust settles on an epic grand final we can now reflect on the fact that Wharfie time was probably the reason Brisbane are now three time premiers. Stats, play movements, defences etc will no doubt show how Brisbane pulled the dockers apart in the last few minutes but when Wharfie time was heard Brisbane said no fucking way! In all my years of watching Grand finals I think the only other team that looked as devastated was Geelong when they lost to hawthorn with Ablett Senior winning the Norm Smith, Fremantle were gutted, but what a game.

Watching on channel 7 and as much as a few people disagreed with me I thought BT, Brayshaw, Hodge and Cornes were fantastic, especially Cornes who has been a revelation. It was a game for the ages and as much we’d all love to see Fagan go round again what better way to go out?! 

One Nation. If the Libs have a do it yourself policy on election campaigns then One Nation seem to be the party that isn’t that fussed about candidates rather it’s about how much money they can get out of them. The Libs do indeed charge a fee to run for preselection but One Nation charge possible candidates twice, once for apply and then to actually run as a candidate. $5,600 being the amount of money you need to give them before you hit the campaign trail.

And speaking of One Nation we feel they’ve missed the mark when criticising Jane Hume. Hume appeared on Insiders to discuss energy policy. One Nation claimed Hume said the Libs wouldn’t cut net zero and that they wouldn’t be helping average Australians with energy prices. If you listen to Hume, she didn’t actually say that. What she said was the she acknowledged we need to be mindful of looking after the planet but that we did need energy prices down. It must be said she wasn’t terribly convincing but her message was absolutely manipulated by One Nation.

And finally Trump has decided not to accept the Iranian peace deal that would’ve got the Strait of Hormuz open and a ceasefire in bombing. Trump was Trump when talking about his decision but while our own Jim Chalmers is pointing the inflation finger at the US he’s not wrong about oil prices. You can’t help but ask what exactly does Trump get by having the Strait of Hormuz shut?!
