I think one of the reprehensible things about politicians is that they’re only really sorry once they’re caught out doing or saying below even political standards. The Pauline Hanson podcast where she claimed indigenous people were primitive and asked what had they achieved was recorded a year ago. There’s no doubt that someone went looking for dirt on the One Nation leader, and found it, but that the comments were made in the first place was the real issue. Yesterday Hanson apologised for the comments about indigenous people but also walked back in her comments on Albo’s mum, which if you were running a genuine political campaign you wouldn’t have done. One Nation aren’t fit to govern and while we are getting to the point of how much worse could they be than Labor the answer is sadly a lot for a whole range of reasons.
If Ben Carroll had aspirations of being Premier, the elected one he can now well and truly forget them. Not only was Carroll involved in much of what his predecessors inflicted upon hapless Victorians yesterday he came out, in the face of a dead motorcyclist, and said he was the Premier not the roads minister. That was his response when asked when the road upgrades would be in full swing so it wasn’t a completely soulless reply but it was close.
The whole Karl Stefanovic saga continues to drag on and will do so at least until October 13th when he’s due back in court with his soon to be ex business partner. Karl is accused of being oppressive, unfair and prejudicial while making his podcast as it appeared to his business partner he wanted her out. Karl is apparently overseas at the moment so we know that money isn’t an issue for Karl, but any credibility he had is slowly slipping away.
How good is federal transport minister, Catherine King?! Gees she’s got a great gig! Not only does she have a great paying federal job and holds a key portfolio within a sitting government now, she gets platinum travel status from QANTAS! How good?! It means that Ling gets free upgrades, lounge access and a whole range of other perks for free for life! How good?! But seriously what the absolute fuck are we doing here? How is this not blatant corruption? And how is not being reported to authorities or at least the powers that be within the Labor Party to say this is taking the piss! But hey, welcome to Albo town!
Ummmm Kevin Rudd is right! Old Kev gave a press club speech the other day and he was right on two things. The first is that we need car manufacturing brought back to Australia and secondly he was right to suggest we must tread carefully when it comes to Ai. Rudd like many of us is saying without at least some kind of manufacturing industry how do we increase productivity? How do we stimulate economic growth? And when it comes to Ai we need to be careful in giving up who we are but also to make sure we’re not over capitalising on Ai data centres. And here was I thinking Kevin was a donut!
And speaking of Ai is the bubble about to burst? Billions and billions of dollars have been invested in developing Ai technology and now we’re seeing data centres pop up across the globe. Have we gone too far? It remains to be seen but seperate to the Ai bubble bursting how much will consumers actually end up having to pay to use the technology given how much leveraged debt these Ai companies now have on their books? It makes for interesting times…
