Good morning and welcome to the Hoodies daily for Wednesday the 9th of September 2026!!
So let’s be clear here folks. As much as there are still a lot of people out there thinking that one day they’ll see Daniel Andrews in handcuffs and Jacinta Allan having her pension cut, neither thing is going to happen, ever. Will both of them have to front the Royal Commission? Maybe, maybe not but the suggestion that either will ever face any kind of real consequences is fanciful at best. With Ben ‘Mr Integrity’ Carroll now Premier the man who was in the room for most of what Andrews and Allan decided simply wont let his former bosses face any kind of retribution. Carroll is pulling back a little on the powers IBAC will have which guess what? Prevents both ex Premiers from facing the firing squad, so to speak. What the Royal Commission and the new IBAC powers will do is point out whats been wrong and then hopefully make sure none of it happens again. So to all the consultants, to all the bureaucrats, to the long retired MP’s who fleeced the system and got away with all of it, congratulations, but here’s hoping at the stage karma gets hold of all of you.
Andrew Hastie is a man on a mission, well sort of. See despite once being linked to One Nation and possibly being the Liberal leader one day, Hastie has come out swinging against One Nation saying he had a duty to testify against Ben Roberts Smith. Hastie has said he’s suffered serious abuse as a result of his statement but that he thinks he did was right. One Nation and a good portion of ex military personnel don’t agree with Hastie and think he is a dog. Hastie did what he thought was right but any idea of joining One Nation or becoming Liberal leader you’d think are off the table now.
Erin Patterson the woman who killed three of her family members and tried to kill a fourth has been grants access to weight loss drugs while in prison, Patterson who is confined to her cell for 23 hours a day has argued she is putting on weight because she is unable to exercise outside the confines of her cell so has been granted the weight loss drugs. I suppose we can look at the request for weight loss drugs as a mental health issue for Patterson but who is she going to impress with any kind of weight loss over the next 40 or so years?
Warren Pickering, the Victorian One Nation leader had quite the day yesterday. First he took to his social media accounts to offer a post taken from a mens discipline instagram site, saying “There’s a calm some men have that didn’t come from peace…it came from being tested so often they stopped flinching at every storm”. Later in the day he held a press conference where he admitted drug use and drink driving from a few decades ago. He went onto say that his greatest failure as that he felt he’d let his kids down during his drug abuse years. It was an interesting move by the One Nation candidate as he met all the allegations head on, which you have to give him credit for, but it’s not a move often made by those wanting to be in the public spotlight. The big win for Pickering was his kids and step children. Pickering’s ex wife was well and truly thrown under the bus by her children and her own mental health was called into question. It’s left the national broadsheet, the Australian looking like an old school rag especially given it seems it has targeted a woman for interview who has serious mental health issues.
