But where is the support for small businesses? Today a lot of small businesses are closed because they simply can’t afford to pay the now ludicrously high penalty rates for staff. No one is saying people don’t need to get paid for the job they do, they absolutely need to, but here’s the thing, what if no one is open? What if no one can afford the wage bill? Even if businesses open who can afford to go into said business during a cost of living crisis? The whole thing is cutting its nose off to spite its face.
Small to medium sized businesses are struggling everywhere and it’s about time governments across the country on both sides of the political divide woke up to the fact that small businesses and the people that use them keep this country going! We don’t need more taxes, we don’t need more wage increases, we don’t need more free hand outs, what we need is support for small businesses, support for farmers and to live in a place where once upon a time it was all about being given a fair go.
