For Labor a win for the ages, for the Liberals the death knell for a party bereft of any kind of real understanding of modern society. Conservatism is Australia is now dead. The Liberals once proudly stood for freedom of the individual and less government involvement in people’s lives but are now thrown on the scrap heap of Australian political history with no real idea who they are or what they stand for. Labor are a machine and until the coalition make significant changes to the ways in which they treat Australians then they are dead and buried.
The campaign Labor ran was strategic and brilliant. They knew who to target, they knew what not to talk about and they knew how to win, a far cry from what the Libs served up to the country.
Recycled Liberal candidates unable to win back seats lost last time round, the now former leader of the party losing his own seat and a party who still seemed to rely on cups of tea with old ladies rather than address the fact that the majority of their views were outdated and irrelevant.
The Libs are a mess and until they show the door to people like Kennett, Kroger, Abbott, Bolt and tell the entire Sky News team to go away they will never get back into office.
But while it’s been an unmitigated disaster for the Libs, for Labor it’s a win to savour. Labor stayed in their lane, unlike the Libs and the Greens who both said they’d fix the world’s problems but ended up on the outer. The Greens look to have lost Max Chandler Mather and could well lose Adam Bandt. The Libs lose Keith Woolahan, Micheal Sukkar, neither Tim Wilson or Katie Allen seem to have got back their seats and of course Peter Dutton loses his own seat. A monumental disaster for both the Libs and the Greens. Labor rule on their own and have absolutely no need to even think about having to deal with Greens.
Albo has gone from Bozo the Clown to the man that now, could quite possibly give Australians the hope they have longed for. And while that may be hard to stomach for some the results speak for themselves. Yes voters were turned off by Dutton which played into Labor’s hands, but Albo now rules in his own right with a considerable mandate for change.
We have said it before and say it again the Libs are Kodak and while they remain stuck in the dark ages Labor will preside over Australians for a generation or until the money runs out.
A new era begins in Australian politics, a second term Labor government and a decimated Liberal Party, will it ultimately be a win for the people? It remains to be seen, but what ever happens over the next three years (maybe four) we will have plenty to talk about!
